Stock market update: Mining stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed higher in the Friday's session.

20 Microns(up 10.64%), NMDC Ltd(up 3.26%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(up 2.13%), Pokarna(up 0.82%) and Coal India(up 0.63%) stood among the top gainers.

Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(down 3.75%), Oriental Trimex(down 2.20%), MOIL(down 1.78%), Ashapura Minechem(down 0.90%), Aro Granite Industries(down 0.79%), KIOCL(down 0.70%) and Madhav Marbles and Granites(down 0.32%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 15.5 points up at 17397.5, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 89.13 points at 58387.93.

UltraTech Cement(up 2.84%), Shree Cement(up 2.66%), ICICI Bank(up 2.19%), UPL Ltd(up 1.6%), Bharti Airtel(up 1.35%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.29%), Grasim Industries(up 1.2%), Infosys(up 1.05%), Wipro(up 1.03%) and Axis Bank(up 0.96%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Hindalco Industries(down 2.58%), Britannia Industries(down 2.3%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 2.05%), Eicher Motors(down 1.79%), Reliance Industries(down 1.47%), Maruti Suzuki(down 1.4%), IndusInd Bank(down 1.32%), Hero MotoCorp(down 1.29%), Cipla(down 0.99%) and SBI Life(down 0.95%) closed in the red.
