Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.62%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of MRF(up 1.14 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki(up 0.19 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, TVS Motor Company(down 3.09 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 1.76 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 1.68 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 1.37 per cent) and Bharat Forge(down 1.18 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.62 per cent down at 12696.1.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 147.7 points at 18159.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 518.64 points at 61144.84.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 13 ended in the green, while 37 closed in the red.

Shares of PNB, Bank of Maharashtra, UCO Bank, Zomato Ltd. and Easy Trip Planners Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Skipper Ltd, UCO Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Archean Chemical Industries Ltd. and Punjab Sind Bank hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while IRIS Business Servic, Kopran Ltd, Quess Corp, Arshiya and Suumaya Lifestyle hit their fresh 52-week lows.
