Share market update: PSU bank shares climb; Canara Bank jumps 6%

NEW DELHI: Shares of PSU banks were trading higher in Monday's session.

Shares of Indian Bank (up 13.88 per cent) , Union Bank of India (up 6.84 per cent) , Canara Bank (up 5.82 per cent) , Bank of Baroda (up 4.78 per cent) , Punjab & Sind Bank (up 4.67 per cent) , Punjab National Bank (up 4.2 per cent) , J & K Bank (up 3.85 per cent) , State Bank of India (up 3.63 per cent) , Indian Overseas Bank (up 2.01 per cent) , UCO Bank (up 1.92 per cent) , Bank of India (up 1.55 per cent) , Central Bank of India (up 1.51 per cent) and Bank of Maharashtra (up 1.41 per cent) were among the top gainers.


The Nifty PSU Bank index was trading 4.27 per cent up at 1479.0 around 02:09PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 134.00 points at 10378.4, while the BSE Sensex was up 420.16 points at 35151.89.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 were trading in the green, while 9 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, BHEL, IDFC First Bank Ltd., PNB, Glenmark Pharma, Ibull HousingFin, Federal Bank, RBL Bank Ltd., SBI and Tata Motors were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
