Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.05% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded positive around 11:15AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.15 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 1.09 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.47 per cent), Cipla(up 0.23 per cent) and Natco Pharma(up 0.17 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Strides Pharma Science(down 2.61 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 1.62 per cent), Biocon(down 1.33 per cent), Abbott India(down 1.1 per cent) and Laurus(down 0.85 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.05 per cent at 12846.35 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 115.35 points at 17008.25, while the BSE Sensex was down 387.9 points at 57238.01.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 were trading in the green, while 38 were in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., Wipro and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Macpower CNC Machine, Hindcon Chemicals, Zenith Exports, Jindal Drilling and Maharashtra Seam. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while JBF Industries, Wipro, Tips Films Ltd., Akshar Spintex and SriHavishaHosp hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
