Uttam Malani shares the places he wants to visit once the pandemic ends and how he is keeping himself busy
As someone who finds it very hard to sit in one place and vegetate; what Uttam Malani, ED of Centuary Mattresses, really missed is the thrill and hustle of being out and about.

"Be it for work or leisure, I am really looking forward to moving around; travelling; meeting people; and exploring new things. In an ideal world; an ideal holiday plan for me would be to an island/beach destination; with lot of water based activities. I just can't wait to go back to any of the Greek islands! Closer home, there is an abundance of wellness themed resorts and homestays within South India which would make for ideal weekend getaways," he says.

Having lived pretty much his whole life in Hyderabad; Malani definitely misses the frequenting the hidden tucked away street food gems which serve mean South Indian tiffins.

"Some priorities have really changed over the last year or so. Of late, my focus has been on home improvement - anything which enhances the comfort and convenience of my space. I've had to upgrade pretty much all WFH essentials - tech and non-tech. Comfortable ear buds; high speed wifi; larger screens; comfortable work desk and chair; etc," he says.

Fortunately, Malani always had a nice little home gym with cardio equipment and free weights. "While it is no substitute for sport; it has helped me and the family stay fit and healthy through the lockdown times. I've reconnected with Yoga and Pranayam through the last year or so of the pandemic; and I find that it does wonders for overall strength and flexibility of mind and body," he says.

Lockdown 1.0 was when Malani started writing again; lockdown 2.0 has been spent in sharpening my chess skills with his eight-year old son. "Both these activities have a certain nostalgia for me. As an entreprenuer and a father of two; dealing with stress can be tricky sometimes! Jokes aside; it is important to count your blessings and be thankful every single day. What I also find to be really helpful in maintaining the right frame of mind is meditation - even 10 minutes of meditation a day can do wonders. Maintaining a calm and positive outlook is crucial in navigating through these stressful times," he says.

Keeping oneself well groomed isn't optional for Malani. For all the change that we're having to deal with in the world around us; a changed look is not something that appeals to him.
