Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed lower in the Monday's session.

Emami(up 5.29%) and Euro India Fresh Foods(up 0.52%) stood among the top gainers.

Varun Beverages(down 6.22%), Dangee Dums(down 5.33%), Parag Milk(down 5.03%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(down 4.63%), Mrs Bectors Food Specialities(down 4.12%), Umang Dairies(down 3.81%), Heritage Foods(down 3.74%), ADF Foods(down 3.57%), Nakoda Group(down 3.45%) and Hatsun Agro Product Ltd(down 3.34%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 311.05 points down at 17016.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 953.7 points at 57145.22.

Asian Paints(up 1.26%), HCL Technologies(up 1.21%), Infosys(up 1.08%), Divis Laboratories(up 0.75%), UltraTech Cement(up 0.61%), Tata Consultancy(up 0.41%) and Wipro(up 0.11%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Motors(down 6.05%), Hindalco Industries(down 5.79%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 5.52%), Maruti Suzuki(down 5.44%), Eicher Motors(down 4.69%), Tata Steel(down 4.27%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 4.0%), ITC(down 3.98%), JSW Steel(down 3.42%) and Axis Bank(down 3.38%) closed in the red.
