Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 1.02%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of Natco Pharma(up 0.99 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 0.28 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Laurus(down 2.37 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 2.31 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 2.14 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(down 2.04 per cent) and Biocon(down 1.47 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.02 per cent down at 12488.8.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 88.45 points at 16631.0, while the BSE Sensex stood down 306.01 points at 55766.22.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy and Canara Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Elecon Engg Co, Vinyl Chemicals, eMudhra Ltd., Kirloskar Elec and Apar Industries hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Zomato Ltd., Gayatri Project, Karda Const, Bombay Rayon and Birla Tyres hit their fresh 52-week lows.
