Stock market update: Bank stocks mixed; Axis Bank climbs 2%

NEW DELHI: Bank stocks were trading on a mixed note at 02:55PM (IST) on Wednesday.

Shares of Axis Bank (up 1.63 per cent), HDFC Bank (up 1.34 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 0.74 per cent) and Bandhan Bank (up 0.15 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Punjab National Bank (down 2.66 per cent), IndusInd Bank (down 2.45 per cent), Bank of Baroda (down 1.89 per cent), State Bank of India (down 1.18 per cent) and ICICI Bank (down 1.14 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.18 per cent up at 21177.6 around 02:55PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 24.75 points at 11128.9, while the BSE Sensex was down 84.44 points at 37649.64.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors and Zee Ent. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Firstsource Sol, MphasiS, Hexaware, Infosys and MindTree hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Future Lifestyle Fashions Ltd., Vikas Proppant & Granite Ltd., Banka Bioloo Ltd., S & S Power Switchgear Ltd., Sumit Woods Ltd., Adroit Infotech Ltd., Libas Designs Ltd., Wonder Fibromats Ltd., Kuantum Papers Ltd. and Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
