Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.34%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of HCL Technologies(up 0.96 per cent), Wipro(up 0.28 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 0.14 per cent) and Coforge(up 0.1 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, MPhasis(down 4.86 per cent), Tata Consultancy(down 0.63 per cent), Mindtree(down 0.59 per cent), L&T Technology(down 0.55 per cent) and Tech Mahindra(down 0.05 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.34 per cent down at 28336.95.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 12.35 points at 17576.3, while the BSE Sensex stood up 104.25 points at 59307.15.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.

Shares of PNB, Suzlon Energy, NHPC, Vodafone Idea and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of DC Infotech, Tips Films Ltd., AXISCADES Engineeri, Jindal Poly Investm and Axis Bank hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Delhivery Ltd., JohnsonCtrls Hitachi, Optiemus Infra, Policy Bazaar and Nureca Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
