Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 1.01% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 10:29AM(IST)on Friday in an upbeat market.

Infosys(up 1.7 per cent), MPhasis(up 1.43 per cent), Wipro(up 1.35 per cent), Tech Mahindra(up 0.88 per cent) and HCL Technologies(up 0.85 per cent) were among the top gainers.

L&T Technology(down 1.14 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was up 1.01 per cent at 28637.9 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 349.85 points at 16159.25, while the BSE Sensex was up 1117.64 points at 53909.87.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 49 were trading in the green, while 1 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Ashok Leyland, BHEL and ITC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Welspun Corp, Chennai Petro, De Nora India, Zenith Birla and Kohinoor Foods hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Future Retail, Birla Tyres, Sonu Infratech Ltd., Prudent Corporate Advisory Services Ltd. and Shyam Telecom hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
