Share market update: Metal shares shine; Hindalco climbs 5%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading higher in Monday's session.

Shares of Hindustan Copper (up 11.33 per cent) , Hindalco Industries (up 4.95 per cent) , Welspun Corp (up 3.64 per cent) , VEDL (up 3.52 per cent) , Tata Steel (up 2.74 per cent) , Steel Authority of India (up 2.27 per cent) , Jindal Steel & Power (up 2.11 per cent) , JSW Steel (up 1.6 per cent) , National Aluminium Company (up 1.54 per cent) , NMDC Ltd (up 1.39 per cent) , APL Apollo Tubes (up 0.49 per cent) and Coal India (up 0.33 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 2.29 per cent up at 2054.5 around 02:00PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 171.30 points at 10778.65, while the BSE Sensex was up 528.79 points at 36550.21.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 were trading in the green, while 8 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, BHEL, Suzlon Energy, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, SAIL, SBI, ITC and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
