Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.52%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of Tata Motors(up 1.28 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(up 0.1 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 4.53 per cent), MRF(down 3.21 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 1.97 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International(down 1.97 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(down 1.61 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.52 per cent down at 12753.05.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 18.45 points at 17895.7, while the BSE Sensex stood down 9.98 points at 60105.5.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, PNB, IOB and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Generic Engg, Indiabulls Enterprises Ltd., Sky Gold, Trans & Rectif and 3P Land Holdings hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vikas Proppant & Gr, Jyoti Structure, Laurus Labs, Acrysil and Nureca Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
