Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.08%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Mindtree(up 2.49 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 2.26 per cent), L&T Technology(up 0.4 per cent), Tata Consultancy(up 0.35 per cent) and Wipro(up 0.22 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, HCL Technologies(down 1.18 per cent), Coforge(down 0.87 per cent), MPhasis(down 0.57 per cent), Infosys(down 0.39 per cent) and Tech Mahindra(down 0.03 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.08 per cent up at 27346.15.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 62.05 points at 16340.55, while the BSE Sensex stood up 246.47 points at 54767.62.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, Bank of Baroda and Federal Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Manorama Ind, Tube Investments, Crown Lifters, Steel Cast and Meghmani Finechem Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while DRC Systems India Ltd., Radha Madhav, NGL Fine Chem, Vikas Proppant & Gr and Aakash Exploration hit their fresh 52-week lows.
