Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.09%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of AU Small Finance Bank(up 3.47 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 1.2 per cent), Axis Bank(up 1.11 per cent) and Bandhan Bank(up 0.92 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Federal Bank(down 2.0 per cent), IDFCBANK(down 1.74 per cent), IndusInd Bank(down 1.64 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.23 per cent) and State Bank of India(down 0.31 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.09 per cent down at 43098.7.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 82.25 points at 18560.5, while the BSE Sensex stood down 215.68 points at 62410.68.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 9 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, PNB, Central Bank and UCO Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Cubex Tubings, PPAP Automotive, FACT, Sarveshwar Foods and Adroit Infotech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while AAA Technologies, Rite Zone Chemcon India Ltd., Vaxtex Cotfab, Vital Chemtech Ltd. and Dhanuka Realty hit their fresh 52-week lows.
