Stock market update: MidCap stocks rise; Bharat Forge soars 13%

NEW DELHI: MidCap stocks were trading higher at 01:55PM (IST) on Thursday.

Shares of Bharat Forge (up 13.25 per cent), Indian Hotels Company (up 10.07 per cent), Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail (up 9.69 per cent), Hindustan Aeronautics (up 9.41 per cent) and Cholamandalam Financial (up 8.17 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Emami (down 2.54 per cent), Adani Transmissions (down 2.51 per cent), Natco Pharma (down 2.36 per cent), Supreme Industries (down 2.28 per cent) and Kansai Nerolac Paints (down 1.88 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 1.47 per cent up at 14565.8 around 01:55PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 9.25 points at 11317.65, while the BSE Sensex was down 0.68 points at 38368.95.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 were trading in the green, while 17 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Alok Industries, Vodafone Idea, Ashok Leyland and IDFC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Galaxy Surfactants Ltd., Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd., Tube Investments of India Ltd., Alkyl Amines and Tata Consumer Products hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Mauria Udyog Ltd., 7NR Retail Ltd., Shree Nidhi Trading Co. Ltd., Panth Infinity Ltd., Viaan Industries Ltd., Emmsons International Ltd., Colorchips New Media Ltd., SC Agrotech Ltd., Anubhav Infrastructure Ltd. and Rainbow Denim Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
