Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.18%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Escorts Kubota(up 2.45 per cent), Tata Motors(up 1.56 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.37 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 1.24 per cent) and Eicher Motors(up 1.21 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, MRF(down 4.85 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.68 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(down 0.47 per cent), Bosch(down 0.46 per cent) and TIINDIA(down 0.3 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.18 per cent up at 12951.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 9.65 points at 17534.75, while the BSE Sensex stood down 35.78 points at 58817.29.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.

Shares of JP Power, Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Suzlon Energy and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Network People Services Technologies Ltd., Superhouse Ltd, Fine Organic Ind., Blue Chip India and Hubtown Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Dynemic Product(PP), Asian Oilfield, Sumeet Ind, Vipul Ltd and Sadbhav Infra hit their fresh 52-week lows.
