Stock market update: Power stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Wednesday at 11:05AM

Alstom T&D India(up 3.57%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 2.59%), Karma Energy(up 2.20%), CESC(up 1.43%), Voltamp Transformers(up 1.32%), NTPC(up 1.30%), Indowind Energy(up 1.12%), GE Power India Limited(up 1.04%), Torrent Power(up 0.94%) and Inox Wind Energy(up 0.88%) were among the top gainers.

Reliance Power(down 3.55%), RTNPOWER(down 3.26%), Inox wind(down 2.94%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 2.48%), JSW Energy(down 2.17%), Suzlon Energy(down 2.11%), Adani Power(down 1.95%), KPI Green Energy(down 1.46%), Indo Tech Transformers(down 1.18%) and Adani Transmissions(down 1.14%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 7.45 points up at 16991.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 37.21 points at 57184.53 at around 11:05AM.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 2.89%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 2.59%), Coal India(up 2.33%), Bajaj Auto(up 2.02%), Axis Bank(up 1.7%), HCL Technologies(up 1.61%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.39%), NTPC(up 1.27%), Tata Consultancy(up 0.71%) and Britannia Industries(up 0.67%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Enterprises(down 2.81%), Asian Paints(down 1.98%), Bharti Airtel(down 1.28%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 0.84%), Larsen & Toubro(down 0.8%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 0.72%), Hero MotoCorp(down 0.71%), ICICI Bank(down 0.69%), Maruti Suzuki(down 0.57%) and Tech Mahindra(down 0.52%) were trading in the red.
