Stock market update: Nifty Bank index climbs 2%; IDFC Bank jumps 5%

NEW DELHI: Nifty Bank index was trading with gains at 01:06PM (IST) on Friday.

Shares of IDFC Bank (up 5.37 per cent), IndusInd Bank (up 4.39 per cent), RBL Bank (up 3.26 per cent), Bandhan Bank (up 3.22 per cent) and State Bank of India (up 2.98 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 0.65 per cent) was the sole loser in the index.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 1.73 per cent up at 20810.35 around 01:06PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 179.15 points at 10984.7, while the BSE Sensex was up 618.28 points at 37171.88.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 46 were trading in the green, while 4 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Ashok Leyland, Ibull HousingFin, Tata Motors and GMR Infra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Coforge Ltd., Ruchi Soya Inds, Granules India, Suven Pharma and Apollo Hospital hit their fresh 52-week high in today's trade, while Mittal Life Style Ltd., Future Lifestyle Fashions Ltd., Vikas Proppant & Granite Ltd., Banka Bioloo Ltd., Delta Manufacturing Ltd., Sumit Woods Ltd., Kuantum Papers Ltd., Coal India Ltd., Motor & General Finance Ltd. and Twentyfirst Century Management Services Ltd. hit fresh 52-week low in trade.
