Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.28%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Monday.

Shares of MRF(up 1.9 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 1.89 per cent), Tata Motors(up 1.14 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(up 0.69 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(up 0.56 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Ashok Leyland(down 0.93 per cent), TIINDIA(down 0.35 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 0.34 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.32 per cent) and TVS Motor Company(down 0.31 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.28 per cent up at 13256.1.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 103.0 points at 17936.35, while the BSE Sensex stood up 321.99 points at 60115.13.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.

Shares of Reliance Power, YES Bank, JP Power, Suzlon Energy and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Oswal Agro Mill, Aurionpro Sol, Noida Toll Brid, Selan Expl Tech and Omax Autos hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Gayatri Project, Ameya Precision Engineers Ltd., JFL Life Sciences Ltd., Bombay Rayon and FutureLifestyleFash hit their fresh 52-week lows.
