Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.17% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 11:15AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Infosys(up 1.12 per cent), MPhasis(up 1.0 per cent) and Persistent Systems(up 0.67 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Coforge(down 1.08 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 0.54 per cent), Wipro(down 0.49 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd(down 0.43 per cent) and HCL Technologies(down 0.3 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was up 0.17 per cent at 28813.65 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 59.4 points at 18139.7, while the BSE Sensex was down 170.46 points at 60896.78.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 were trading in the green, while 40 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, PNB, IOB and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Goldstar Power, Arvee Laboratories, Vasa Retail & Overse, Abbott India and Jindal Worldwide hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Ameya Precision Engineers Ltd., Ishan International Ltd., Ducon Infra, Airan Ltd. and Sanwaria Consumer hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
