Stock market update: MidCap stocks advance; JSW Energy jumps 5%

NEW DELHI: MidCap stocks were trading higher at 01:12PM (IST) on Wednesday.

Shares of United Breweries (up 8.32 per cent), JSW Energy (up 5.33 per cent), KIOCL (up 3.97 per cent), Shriram City Union Finance (up 3.9 per cent) and Info Edge (India) (up 3.84 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Future Retail (down 9.99 per cent), Bank of India (down 3.44 per cent), Crompton (down 2.57 per cent), Muthoot Finance (down 2.45 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries (down 2.44 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 0.28 per cent up at 14874.0 around 01:12PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 0.70 points at 11469.55, while the BSE Sensex was down 29.07 points at 38871.73.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Alok Industries, RIL and Infosys were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Adani Green Energy Ltd., IndiaMART InterMESH Ltd., Godrej Ind and Infibeam Avenues Ltd. hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Panth Infinity Ltd., Innovative Ideals and Services (India) Ltd., Majestic Research Services & Solutions Ltd., Anupam Finserv Ltd., Saffron Industries Ltd., Leading Leasing Finance and Investment Company Ltd., Benara Bearings & Pistons Ltd., B P Capital Ltd., Modulex Construction Technologies Ltd. and Katare Spinning Mills Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
