Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 1.33% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index traded positive around 11:25AM(IST)on Tuesday in an upbeat market.

ICICI Bank(up 2.78 per cent), Axis Bank(up 1.61 per cent), IndusInd Bank(up 1.54 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 1.38 per cent) and State Bank of India(up 1.18 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Federal Bank(down 0.35 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Bank index was up 1.33 per cent at 34043.25 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 266.45 points at 16108.75, while the BSE Sensex was up 864.09 points at 53837.93.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 43 were trading in the green, while 7 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Life Insurance Corporation of India, Suzlon Energy and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Megastar Foods, Honda Siel Power, GSS Infotech, Kanani Inds and Kohinoor Foods hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Life Insurance Corporation of India, Sonu Infratech Ltd., Birla Tyres, Rainbow Childrens Medicare Ltd. and Innovative Tyres & T hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
