Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.25% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 10:04AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Coforge(up 1.18 per cent), L&T Technology(up 0.85 per cent), Tata Consultancy(up 0.69 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 0.43 per cent) and Mindtree(up 0.33 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Wipro(down 0.39 per cent), MPhasis(down 0.2 per cent) and HCL Technologies(down 0.04 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was up 0.25 per cent at 26909.3 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 28.85 points at 17689.5, while the BSE Sensex was down 121.08 points at 59335.7.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 were trading in the green, while 23 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, PNB, Vodafone Idea and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Brand Concepts L, Servotech Power Syst, Remsons Ind, Autoline Ind and Aarvi Encon hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while FutureLifestyleFash, Kopran Ltd, Finolex Inds., Indian Oil Corp. and Amrutanjan Healt hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
