Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.1% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded positive around 11:26AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

TVS Motor Company(up 1.6 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.08 per cent), Tata Motors(up 1.06 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.35 per cent) and MRF(up 0.31 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 1.94 per cent), TIINDIA(down 1.23 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 0.99 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 0.8 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(down 0.5 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 0.1 per cent at 13017.65 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 90.8 points at 18569.5, while the BSE Sensex was down 321.97 points at 62355.94.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 36 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, UCO Bank, IOB and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Madras Fert, Indbank Merc, IOB, Nagreeka Capital and GIC hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Cerebra Integrat, Pritika Engineering Components Ltd., Sintex Inds., Osia Hyper Retail and Indiabulls Intgrtd hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
