Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.26%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Tata Motors(up 2.08 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 2.0 per cent), TIINDIA(up 1.99 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 1.98 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(up 1.66 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Ashok Leyland(down 2.32 per cent), Escorts Kubota(down 1.46 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 1.35 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 0.83 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki(down 0.77 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.26 per cent up at 13416.9.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 133.2 points at 18145.4, while the BSE Sensex stood up 374.76 points at 61121.35.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 39 ended in the green, while 11 closed in the red.

Shares of PNB, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, Tata Steel and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Weizmann Ltd, AXISCADES Engineeri, SecUR Credentials, Pudumjee Paper Prod and CMS Info Systems Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Aakash Exploration, Akshar Spintex, Rel Capital, Future Retail and Williamson Magor hit their fresh 52-week lows.
