Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.39%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of IDFCBANK(up 5.49 per cent), IndusInd Bank(up 3.27 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(up 2.21 per cent), Federal Bank(up 1.48 per cent) and Axis Bank(up 1.31 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Bandhan Bank(down 4.3 per cent), HDFC Bank(down 1.49 per cent) and Bank of Baroda(down 0.36 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.39 per cent up at 40669.3.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 5.9 points at 17610.4, while the BSE Sensex stood up 224.16 points at 59932.24.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, PNB, Adani Ports SEZ, Vodafone Idea and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Sterling Tools, Mold Tek Tech, Jindal Saw, KPIT Tech and Rajesh Exports hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Adani Ent., 8K Miles Soft, Moxsh Overseas Educon Ltd., Shrenik and Adani Transmission hit their fresh 52-week lows.
