Stock market update: MidCap stocks down; Muthoot Finance tanks 8%

NEW DELHI: MidCap stocks were trading on a negative note at 02:38PM (IST) on Tuesday.

Shares of Larsen & Toubro Infotech (down 7.93 per cent), Muthoot Finance (down 7.85 per cent), Bayer CropScience (down 5.6 per cent), Honeywell Automation India (down 5.09 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals (down 4.85 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Indian Hotels Company (up 14.75 per cent), United Breweries (up 9.08 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 7.59 per cent), Bharat Forge (up 6.3 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra Financial (up 6.2 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 0.39 per cent down at 15499.38 around 02:38PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 117.55 points at 12578.6, while the BSE Sensex was up 490.93 points at 43088.36.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, IDFC First Bank Ltd., Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., Ashok Leyland, Bharat Forge, Pfizer and HDFC Bank hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while 7NR Retail Ltd., Panth Infinity Ltd., Mehai Technology Ltd., Shivansh Finserve Ltd., Vikas Proppant & Granite Ltd., Pazel International Ltd., SITI Networks Ltd., Primuss Pipes & Tubes Ltd., Neil Industries Ltd. and Madhusudan Securities Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
