Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.92%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of Infosys(up 0.28 per cent), L&T Technology(up 0.24 per cent) and HCL Technologies(up 0.24 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Mindtree(down 3.21 per cent), Coforge(down 2.51 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 2.19 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 1.9 per cent) and Wipro(down 1.32 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.92 per cent down at 26819.05.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 40.5 points at 16818.1, while the BSE Sensex stood down 188.32 points at 56409.96.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, PNB, Zomato Ltd. and BEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Pricol, Apollo Sindoori, Aurionpro Sol, Rites and Airo Lam hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SVP Global, CMI Ltd, Bannari Amman, Ansal Housing and Kopran Ltd hit their fresh 52-week lows.
