Stock market update: Nifty Media index climbs 3%; Sun TV leaps 6%

NEW DELHI: Nifty Media index was trading higher at 12:04PM (IST) on Thursday.

Shares of Sun TV Network (up 5.77 per cent), TV18 Broadcast (up 5.08 per cent), Network 18 Fincap (up 4.89 per cent), Hathway Cable & Datacom (up 4.86 per cent) and Dish TV India (up 4.69 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While TV Today Network (down 2.13 per cent) and PVR (down 0.45 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty Media index was trading 2.69 per cent up at 1666.55 around 12:04PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 124.45 points at 11402.45, while the BSE Sensex was up 497.62 points at 38691.54.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, SBI and Zee Ent. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of RIL (PP), Hathway Cable, RIL, Adani Gas Ltd. and Granules India hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade.
