Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.32%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Eicher Motors(up 2.52 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 2.31 per cent), Bajaj Auto(up 2.23 per cent), Bosch(up 1.79 per cent) and TVS Motor Company(up 1.75 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, TIINDIA(down 1.79 per cent), Tata Motors(down 1.64 per cent), Escorts(down 1.35 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 0.43 per cent) and MRF(down 0.32 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.32 per cent up at 11419.25.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 121.85 points at 16478.1, while the BSE Sensex stood up 427.79 points at 55320.28.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 ended in the green, while 14 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, MRPL, Zomato Ltd. and TV18 Broadcast were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Tree House Edu, Global Education, Time Technoplast, KPI Global Infra and Rolex Rings hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Jagran Prakashan, Krishna Defence and Allied Industries Ltd., Vaxtex Cotfab, Akash Infra-Proj and Sadbhav Infra hit their fresh 52-week lows.
