Stock market update: Telecom stocks gain; RCom jumps 5%

NEW DELHI: Telecom stocks were trading with gains at 01:13PM (IST) on Friday.

Shares of Tata Communications (up 5.0 per cent), Optiemus Infracom (up 4.85 per cent), Reliance Communications (up 4.82 per cent), Vodafone Idea (up 1.66 per cent) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 0.75 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While HFCL Ltd (down 1.5 per cent), Vindhya Telelinks (down 1.18 per cent), Tejas Network (down 1.0 per cent), Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 0.5 per cent) and Sterlite Technologies (down 0.11 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.25 per cent up at 1257.11 around 01:13PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 33.35 points at 11333.8, while the BSE Sensex was up 107.39 points at 38417.88.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 were trading in the green, while 17 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Alok Industries, Ashok Leyland and NBCC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Lupin, Birlasoft, APL Apollo Tube, KIOCL Ltd. and JSPL hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Mauria Udyog Ltd., Panth Infinity Ltd., Viaan Industries Ltd., Navkar Builders Ltd., Vas Infrastructure Ltd., Shree Karthik Papers Ltd., SC Agrotech Ltd., Anubhav Infrastructure Ltd., Unishire Urban Infra Ltd. and Centerac Technologies Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
