Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 1.18%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

Shares of Escorts Kubota(up 1.52 per cent), TIINDIA(up 0.94 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.5 per cent) and Bosch(up 0.18 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Balkrishna Industries(down 3.8 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 2.96 per cent), Tata Motors(down 1.6 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 1.36 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(down 1.3 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 1.18 per cent down at 12276.5.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 147.15 points at 16483.85, while the BSE Sensex stood down 497.73 points at 55268.49.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 13 ended in the green, while 37 closed in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Archidply Ind, eMudhra Ltd., Kirloskar Elec, Paradeep Phosphates Ltd. and Hardwyn India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Tanla Solutions, Zomato Ltd., P E Analytics Ltd., Gayatri Project and Future Retail hit their fresh 52-week lows.
