Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 2.0%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of Bajaj Auto(up 0.01 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Tata Motors(down 4.99 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 4.35 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 3.45 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 3.11 per cent) and Bharat Forge(down 2.62 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 2.0 per cent down at 11165.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 427.4 points at 15774.4, while the BSE Sensex stood down 1456.74 points at 52846.7.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 2 ended in the green, while 48 closed in the red.

Shares of RBL Bank, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato Ltd. and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Sonu Infratech Ltd., Tree House Edu, Marathon Nextgen, Destiny Logistics & Infra Ltd. and Kohinoor Foods hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while RBL Bank, Balaxi Pharma, G R Infraprojects Ltd., Centrum Capital and Aptech hit their fresh 52-week lows.
