Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.02% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index traded negative around 11:11AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Punjab National Bank(up 4.3 per cent), Federal Bank(up 3.8 per cent), IDFCBANK(up 1.99 per cent), Bandhan Bank(up 0.62 per cent) and HDFC Bank(up 0.08 per cent) were among the top gainers.

ICICI Bank(down 0.56 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.39 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(down 0.39 per cent), Bank of Baroda(down 0.18 per cent) and Axis Bank(down 0.16 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Bank index was down 0.02 per cent at 44041.1 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 87.55 points at 18572.75, while the BSE Sensex was down 313.65 points at 62364.26.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, UCO Bank, IOB and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Indbank Merc, Madras Fert, IOB, Nagreeka Capital and UCO Bank hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Cerebra Integrat, Pritika Engineering Components Ltd., Sintex Inds., Osia Hyper Retail and Metropolis Health hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
