Stock market update: Power stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Wednesday at 10:40AM

Energy Development Company(up 4.22%), KEC International(up 2.70%), Orient Green Power Company(up 1.59%), DPSC(up 1.37%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 1.22%), CESC(up 1.19%), GE Power India Limited(up 1.07%), Indo Tech Transformers(up 0.96%), Gujarat Industries Power(up 0.90%) and Hitachi Energy India(up 0.51%) were among the top gainers.

Jyoti Structures(down 4.44%), PTC India(down 3.84%), SJVN(down 2.44%), NTPC(down 1.11%), NHPC(down 0.93%), Karma Energy(down 0.84%), Inox wind(down 0.73%), Indowind Energy(down 0.70%), NLC India(down 0.57%) and Kalpataru Power Transmission(down 0.45%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 7.95 points up at 18650.7, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 67.66 points at 62694.02 at around 10:40AM.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 2.07%), Larsen & Toubro(up 1.93%), Hindustan Unilever(up 1.28%), Asian Paints(up 1.11%), ITC(up 0.82%), ICICI Bank(up 0.74%), Cipla(up 0.6%), Infosys(up 0.59%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(up 0.55%) and Nestle India(up 0.46%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, NTPC(down 1.11%), HCL Technologies(down 1.03%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.99%), Tata Motors(down 0.96%), HDFC(down 0.78%), Coal India(down 0.73%), Hero MotoCorp(down 0.67%), Wipro(down 0.64%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 0.6%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.59%) were trading in the red.
