Domestic benchmark index NSE Nifty gained 176.8 points to 16818.6, while the BSE Sensex traded 655.2 points up at 56471.52.
On the other hand, Schaeffler India, International Constructions Ltd., Priti International, Kritika Wires and Aurangabad Distiller stocks hit their fresh 52-week highs today.
In the Nifty 50 index, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank, Wipro and Infosys were among the top gainers on the NSE.
Tata Motors, Dr. Reddys, Sun Pharma, Coal India Ltd and Bharti Airtel were among the top losers.
