Stock market update: Fertilisers stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Fertilisers shares closed lower in the Friday's session.

Southern Petrochemicals Industries(up 5.32%), ZUARIAGRO(up 3.97%), Khaitan Chemicals & Fertilizers(up 2.77%), Nagarjuna Fertilizers & Chem(up 2.77%), Sikko Industries(up 1.95%), Madras Fertlizers(up 1.53%), KRISHANA(up 1.25%), Coromandel International(up 0.81%), Aries Agro(up 0.45%) and Fertilizers & Chemicals Tranvancore(up 0.09%) stood among the top gainers.

Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers (down 9.31%), Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals(down 5.53%), Agro Phos(down 4.98%), Deepak Fertilizers & Petrochemicals(down 2.60%), Madhya Bharat Agro Products(down 2.41%), Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers(down 2.08%), G S F C(down 1.33%) and National Fertilizer(down 1.20%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 25.85 points down at 15782.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 136.69 points at 52793.62.

Tata Motors(up 8.6%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 3.82%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 2.8%), Hindustan Unilever(up 2.59%), ITC(up 2.25%), UPL Ltd(up 2.17%), Titan Company Ltd(up 2.11%), Eicher Motors(up 2.01%), Hero MotoCorp(up 2.0%) and Britannia Industries(up 1.92%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Hindalco Industries(down 4.4%), JSW Steel(down 3.9%), State Bank of India(down 3.89%), NTPC(down 2.96%), ICICI Bank(down 2.65%), Bharti Airtel(down 2.2%), Axis Bank(down 2.11%), Maruti Suzuki(down 2.09%), Bajaj Finserv(down 1.89%) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 1.88%) closed in the red.
