Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.02% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded positive around 10:44AM(IST)on Wednesday in an upbeat market.

Biocon(up 4.18 per cent), Granules India(up 4.01 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(up 1.63 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.37 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma(up 1.27 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 0.28 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(down 0.21 per cent) and Lupin(down 0.01 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 1.02 per cent at 12875.95 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 109.4 points at 16368.7, while the BSE Sensex was up 357.74 points at 54676.21.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 were trading in the green, while 8 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, Adani Power and MRPL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of BLS Int. Services, Gokaldas Export, MRPL, Kanani Inds and Kohinoor Foods hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Metropolis Health, Muthoot Capital, Dr Lal Pathlabs, Future Retail and Birla Tyres hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
