Stock market update: Power stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Wednesday's session.

Inox wind(up 5.67%), PTC India(up 4.95%), Jyoti Structures(up 4.84%), KPI Green Energy(up 3.35%), NLC India(up 2.87%), NHPC(up 2.69%), CESC(up 2.05%), GE Power India Limited(up 1.28%), KEC International(up 1.15%) and NTPC(up 1.04%) stood among the top gainers.

Indowind Energy(down 4.29%), PIGL(down 4.18%), Energy Development Company(down 3.40%), ADANIGREEN(down 3.20%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(down 2.63%), Suzlon Energy(down 2.00%), Orient Green Power Company(down 1.83%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(down 1.67%), Alstom T&D India(down 1.48%) and RTNPOWER(down 1.27%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 112.05 points up at 18165.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 390.02 points at 61045.74.

Hindalco Industries(up 3.08%), Tata Steel(up 2.6%), Larsen & Toubro(up 2.41%), UPL Ltd(up 1.83%), HDFC(up 1.78%), HDFC Bank(up 1.77%), Coal India(up 1.76%), Wipro(up 1.73%), Bharti Airtel(up 1.42%) and JSW Steel(up 1.27%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Motors(down 1.66%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.38%), UltraTech Cement(down 1.28%), Adani Enterprises(down 1.17%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 0.67%), Nestle India(down 0.61%), IndusInd Bank(down 0.6%), Cipla(down 0.53%), Bajaj Finserv(down 0.41%) and State Bank of India(down 0.25%) closed in the red.
