Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.51% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 10:29AM(IST)on Friday in an upbeat market.

Wipro(up 0.92 per cent), Coforge(up 0.76 per cent), Infosys(up 0.63 per cent), MPhasis(up 0.53 per cent) and Mindtree(up 0.44 per cent) were among the top gainers.

HCL Technologies(down 0.01 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was up 0.51 per cent at 29934.6 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 59.5 points at 17441.5, while the BSE Sensex was up 229.07 points at 58527.87.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 were trading in the green, while 15 were in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, Indian Oil Corp. and Crompton Greaves were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Rama Phosphates, Kotyark Industries Ltd., Fineotex Chem, Himadri Speciality and Lemon Tree Hotels hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Future Retail, Birla Tyres, IMP Powers Ltd, Melstar Info and Debock Sales & Mktg hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
