    • Post the leak of the PE report , an internal enquiry was initiated by the agency
    • The probe indicated that Anil Deshmukh’s legal team was allegedly trying to influence the CBI team which was conducting the preliminary enquiry
    • Role of lower rank officers of the agency under scanner for allegedly taking illegal gratification from Deshmukh’s team
    • The PE had recommended closing the probe against Deshmukh
    • Deshmukh's son-in-law Gaurav Chaturvedi was questioned on the same. While a lawyer has been detained, he has been let off.

    This is what happened in Mumbai late today evening

    • The family of former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh reached the Worli police station to file a complaint that his son-in-law Gaurav Chaturvedi was "kidnapped".
    • It turned out that he was picked by a CBI team for questioning.
    • Sources said Chaturvedi and his lawyer were travelling near the Worli sea link when they were picked up.
    • The central agency wanted to question them on alleged attempts to influence the probe against Deshmukh.
    • Deshmukh is facing a CBI probe on alleged corruption, and an ED probe on alleged money laundering.
    • Chaturvedi was let off while the lawyer was detained for further questioning, sources further said.
    • Deshmukh's party NCP said the CBI action was "illegal".
