Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.55% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 11:00AM(IST)on Friday in a weak market.

Mindtree(up 1.7 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 1.43 per cent), Infosys(up 1.16 per cent), HCL Technologies(up 0.82 per cent) and Coforge(up 0.36 per cent) were among the top gainers.

MPhasis(down 0.32 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 0.23 per cent) and Wipro(down 0.03 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was up 0.55 per cent at 26929.4 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 178.6 points at 17451.2, while the BSE Sensex was down 598.85 points at 58520.87.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 were trading in the green, while 40 were in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Tata Steel, Shree Ren Sug, M&M Financial and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of SriHavishaHosp, Fourth Dimension Sol, Schneider, Sonu Infratech Ltd. and Upsurge Seeds of Agriculture Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Bodhi Tree Multimed, Jay Jalaram Technologies Ltd., Sabar Flex India Ltd., FutureLifestyleFash and Ameya Precision Engineers Ltd. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
