Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.7% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded negative around 10:50AM(IST)on Tuesday in a weak market.

MRF(up 0.29 per cent), Tata Motors(up 0.13 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 0.06 per cent) and Bharat Forge(up 0.04 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Ashok Leyland(down 2.24 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 1.73 per cent), TIINDIA(down 1.45 per cent), Bajaj Auto(down 1.01 per cent) and TVS Motor Company(down 0.86 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.7 per cent at 12604.75 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 69.8 points at 17171.2, while the BSE Sensex was down 212.88 points at 57778.23.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 were trading in the green, while 38 were in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, JP Power, Vodafone Idea, Shree Ren Sug and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Zenith Exports, Everest Ind, Jindal Drilling, Dev Information Tech and Sakar Healthcare hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Akshar Spintex, Kandarp Digi Smart BPO Ltd., Tips Films Ltd., Mega Flex Plastics Ltd. and Reliance Comm hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
