This practice would sit within the Alliances and Industrial Solutions Unit and report directly to Jiani Zhang, president, Alliance and Industrial Business Unit.

“IBM’s collaboration with Persistent provides important skills to help enterprise businesses accelerate the migration of their critical workloads to the IBM public cloud,” said Cameron Clayton, General Manager Cloud Ecosystem and Weather, IBM.

The two companies have been partners for over 17 years.

Over the past year, over 2,000 engineers and technical professionals at Persistent Systems have been trained extensively on critical containerization and Kubernetes skills needed to deliver value in multi-cloud environments, especially those leveraging IBM Cloud Paks on Red Hat OpenShift.

“As a trusted partner helping to deploy IBM Cloud Paks, we made the strategic investment in our skills to ensure Persistent was well prepared for the continued industry shift toward multi-cloud,” said Chris O’Connor, CEO, Persistent Systems.

“We recognize that Red Hat OpenShift, containerization, and Kubernetes skills are critical for scalable and cost-efficient IT modernization. By combining these future-ready skills with our established cloud platform expertise and rich history of IBM product development, we believe Persistent is uniquely positioned to accelerate Cloud Pak deployments,” he said.

The company said that it anticipated opportunities on both the software reselling and services side as the market looks to rapidly modernize core IT with containerization/Kubernetes.

While the new practice will sit under the Alliance unit, the opportunities would extend significantly in the technology services unit as well, acting as a conduit for cross-selling opportunities.
