Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 1.05%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of IDFCBANK(up 3.77 per cent), Axis Bank(up 2.95 per cent), Federal Bank(up 2.61 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 2.58 per cent) and IndusInd Bank(up 2.1 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, ICICI Bank(down 0.26 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 1.05 per cent up at 39118.55.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 140.05 points at 17123.6, while the BSE Sensex stood up 478.59 points at 57625.91.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 43 ended in the green, while 7 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Zomato Ltd., JP Power, YES Bank and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Hindcon Chemicals, Raymond, Apollo Micro Systems, Zenith Exports and Kirloskar Oil hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Latteys Industries, Akshar Spintex, Kandarp Digi Smart BPO Ltd., Tips Films Ltd. and Maks Energy Solutions India Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
