Stock market update: Mining stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Mining stocks were trading higher on Thursday at 10:40AM

Pokarna(up 2.62%), KIOCL(up 1.45%), MOIL(up 0.99%), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(up 0.75%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(up 0.60%), Madhav Marbles and Granites(up 0.57%), NMDC Ltd(up 0.41%), Coal India(up 0.28%) and 20 Microns(up 0.11%) were among the top gainers.

Ashapura Minechem(down 0.85%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 5.6 points up at 18048.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 49.64 points at 60607.81 at around 10:40AM.

Britannia Industries(up 3.22%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(up 2.07%), ITC(up 1.82%), Nestle India(up 1.53%), Bajaj Auto(up 1.41%), Hindustan Unilever(up 1.27%), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.17%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 1.16%), NTPC(up 1.14%) and HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 1.13%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Finance(down 6.8%), Bajaj Finserv(down 5.3%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.42%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(down 1.41%), ICICI Bank(down 0.83%), Axis Bank(down 0.41%), HDFC Bank(down 0.4%), Tata Steel(down 0.39%), Adani Enterprises(down 0.38%) and IndusInd Bank(down 0.27%) were trading in the red.
