Anish Bafna shares his revival kit and how he plans to kick back from the pandemic.
Travel is something like most people, Anish Bafna, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of The Healthium Group, has missed. Also visiting cafes, restaurants and travelling to new places.

"Two places to travel to – London for work as I haven’t been to our London office for over 20 months now and a holiday to Singapore to spend time with friends who I haven’t met for a similar amount of time," he says.

    Salon spree
The simple pleasure of having a cup of cappuccino while reading a book on business adventures, in a quiet roadside café in any part of the world with peace and calm for Bafna.

The Sky bar and lounge in Bangalore is a place he would like to visit again. "Most of my shopping is done at airports while travelling but the lockdown has really been a big lesson in how less you need rather than more. However, a great pair of Tods or Ferragamo would be my indulgence," he says.

Bafna set up his office space, desk at home – most people have adapted to WFH as the new norm.

"In today’s time, the corporate world has shown us that if your work doesn’t suffer, then the physical workspace doesn’t really matter – all we need is drive, creativity, motivation and a stable internet connection to deliver excellence," he says.

    Lockdown challenges
He took upon himself to understand and delve deeper on how financial markets work and that has been a subject he has been pursuing. "The other area was to determine and identify categories that will change the course of the med tech industry. Other than that, I tried cooking once, but was asked to focus on my day job and was told that there is little scope for me to do anything different," he says.

Bafna's wife is a yoga teacher and he decided to join her classes and realised it is an amazing fitness regime.

Yoga and the core is how he has been keeping fit. "WFH has an amazing ability to add layers to the body. My hobbies have always been playing tennis and reading – I am an avid reader. Some of my favourite authors are - Charlie Munger, Ram Charan, Al Ries, and my favourite book is Poor Charlie’s Almanack. My newfound passion is definitely Yoga, but I am still a beginner here," he says.

With his responsibilities both at work and at home; doing yoga and reflecting within made Bafna continuously believe that everyone will emerge stronger from this situation, and that has kept my mind relatively stress free.

It is important to stick to a routine and structure. Thus, even in WFH, a discipline and routine go a long way in maintaining balance. "Physical and mental grooming both are extremely critical in being effective and productive. It has been an unusual time, full of change and adjustment, so I chose to stick to my trusted grooming routine to make sure some things stay the same," he says.
