Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Thursday's session.

Sakthi Sugars(up 0.81%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(up 0.64%), Balrampur Chini Mills(up 0.62%), KCP Sugar & Industries(up 0.49%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(up 0.43%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 0.37%) and Bannari Amman Sugars(up 0.29%) stood among the top gainers.

Ugar Sugar Works(down 2.82%), Mawana Sugars(down 2.03%), Uttam Sugar Mills(down 1.79%), Rana Sugars(down 1.73%), Simbhaoli Sugars(down 1.68%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 1.38%), EID Parry(down 1.36%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries(down 1.21%), K.M.Sugar Mills(down 0.99%) and AVADHSUGAR(down 0.92%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 50.8 points down at 17992.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 304.18 points at 60353.27.

Hero MotoCorp(up 2.14%), Cipla(up 2.01%), NTPC(up 1.98%), ITC(up 1.97%), JSW Steel(up 1.96%), Bajaj Auto(up 1.92%), Hindustan Unilever(up 1.88%), Britannia Industries(up 1.85%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 1.81%) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 1.8%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Finance(down 7.17%), Bajaj Finserv(down 5.1%), ICICI Bank(down 2.22%), Titan Company Ltd(down 1.36%), Infosys(down 1.31%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.07%), Tech Mahindra(down 0.85%), Axis Bank(down 0.83%), Wipro(down 0.72%) and HDFC Bank(down 0.64%) closed in the red.
