Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.33% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded positive around 11:16AM(IST)on Wednesday in a weak market.

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 4.2 per cent), Granules India(up 3.93 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(up 3.36 per cent), Biocon(up 3.34 per cent) and Lupin(up 2.76 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Gland Pharma(down 0.62 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 1.33 per cent at 12786.55 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 22.35 points at 18362.95, while the BSE Sensex was down 97.05 points at 61605.24.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, UCO Bank, IOB and Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Tirupati Forge, Skipper Ltd, Jindal Worldwide, Cool Caps Industries Ltd. and Kalyani Steels hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Phantom Digital Effects Ltd., Vital Chemtech Ltd., Arshiya, Sintex Inds. and JFL Life Sciences Ltd. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
