Stock market update: BSE MidCap index gains over 2%; Natco Pharma surges 12%

NEW DELHI: S&P BSE MidCap index was trading with gains at 02:17PM (IST) on Monday.

Shares of Natco Pharma (up 11.8 per cent), Balkrishna Industries (up 7.56 per cent), MPhasis (up 6.31 per cent), L&T Finance Holdings (up 6.0 per cent) and Jindal Steel & Power (up 5.86 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While GMR Infrastructure (down 1.49 per cent), Vodafone Idea (down 0.87 per cent), JSW Energy (down 0.69 per cent), Tata Consumer Products (down 0.52 per cent) and Emami (down 0.36 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 2.44 per cent up at 14686.4 around 02:17PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 171.10 points at 11221.35, while the BSE Sensex was up 563.94 points at 37952.6.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 46 were trading in the green, while 4 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Alok Industries, Max Financial Services and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Natco Pharma, Balkrishna Ind., Escorts, Amber Enterprises India Ltd. and Persistent Sys hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Mauria Udyog Ltd., 7NR Retail Ltd., Panth Infinity Ltd., Zodiac Ventures Ltd., A & M Febcon Ltd., Viaan Industries Ltd., Virgo Global Ltd., Mahip Industries Ltd., SC Agrotech Ltd. and Pazel International Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
